What Makes a Sentence Stronger?
Longer does not automatically mean better. A stronger sentence usually has: a precise verb instead of a plain one, one or two well-chosen details (not a long list), a sense of atmosphere or feeling, and varied sentence openings across a piece of writing. Every word should earn its place -- if a word could be removed without losing anything, it probably should be. Punctuation, like commas around extra detail, also helps a sentence read smoothly.

How This Works
This is a structured tool, not an AI writing assistant -- every improved example and explanation is pre-written, not generated. In Guided mode, pupils choose from real options at each step (a stronger verb, a detail, a description, and a sentence structure) and see their own sentence build up live, then compare it with a hand-written model. In Free Write mode, pupils write their own improved version and self-assess with a short checklist -- nothing is automatically marked, keeping the judgement where it belongs, with the pupil and their teacher.
