Question Ladder

Build a ladder of questions on any topic that climbs from simple recall to genuine challenge.

Set up your ladder

How to use

Type a topic — anything from "the water cycle" to "World War Two" to "fractions" — choose the Key Stage you're teaching, then select Build the ladder.

  • You'll get one question for each of six thinking levels, from Recall at the bottom rung to Create at the top.
  • Not keen on a particular question? Select Generate again to reshuffle all six without changing your topic or Key Stage.
  • Use Copy questions to paste the whole ladder into a lesson plan, slide or worksheet.
  • Use Print for a clean, ready-to-hand-out copy of just the ladder.
