How to use
The Writing Frame Builder creates a scaffolded structure of paragraph headings and sentence starters for pupils to build a piece of writing around.
- Choose a genre — each one has a genuinely different structure, matching how that type of writing is actually organised.
- Choose a Key Stage — KS1/KS2 frames use fewer, shorter sentence starters; KS3–KS5 frames use more sophisticated structure and connectives.
- Type a topic and it will be woven into the prompts automatically.
- Click Generate writing frame. Every heading and sentence starter can then be clicked and edited directly, so you can tweak wording before handing it out.
- Use Copy text to paste the frame elsewhere, or Print for a clean handout with space for pupils to write.
