For Grown-Ups

What this practises: reading comprehension skills including retrieval, vocabulary, sequencing, prediction, inference and using evidence from a text.

Suitable for: Years 1 and 2. Year 1 texts are shorter with mostly retrieval questions; Year 2 texts are longer with more inference.

How to help: encourage your child to look back at the text before answering rather than guessing from memory — that's exactly what good readers do.
