KS1 Learning Resources

Learn. Practise. Grow.

Free, focused activities for children in Years 1 and 2 (ages approximately 5–7), covering the phonics, reading, spelling and maths skills that matter most at this stage. These are short practice activities rather than formal revision — the aim is steady, confident progress, not test preparation.

Children move a lot in Years 1 and 2 — from early phonics towards confident, independent reading and writing, and from counting towards real number fluency. Each activity here focuses on one skill at a time, gives instant, encouraging feedback, and works just as well for five minutes of practice at home as it does in the classroom. Parents and KS1 teachers are both welcome — there's a short "For Grown-Ups" note further down the page, and nothing here needs an account or any personal details to use.

For Grown-Ups

  • Activities can be repeated as many times as useful — repetition genuinely helps skills stick.
  • Short, regular practice sessions work better than one long session.
  • Children develop at different rates — there's no single "right" pace here.
  • Accuracy should generally come before speed.
  • When your child gets something wrong, try discussing the mistake together rather than simply giving the answer.
