What this practises: number bonds to 10 and 20 — knowing pairs of numbers that add up to a target, a key building block for mental addition and subtraction.
Suggested year group: Bonds to 10 suits Year 1; Bonds to 20 and the no-picture Missing Number mode suit Year 2.
How to help: encourage your child to work it out rather than guess — the ten frame picture shows the "known" part filled in, so they can count the empty spaces. Accuracy matters more than speed, so there's no pressure timer during play.
