Synopsis

Scene 1 – The Laundry Basket

It's Monday morning and Stripy Sock wakes at the bottom of a very full, very smelly laundry basket. Its other sock is missing! Jumper, Vest and the Pyjamas (who match perfectly and like to say so) send Stripy Sock off to ask the Washing Machine.

Scene 2 – The Washing Machine

The robotic Washing Machine beeps Stripy Sock inside, where a crowd of cheerful Bubbles pop up to help. A dizzy spin cycle later, the Washing Machine suggests asking the Pegs.

Scene 3 – The Washing Line

The Pegs pinch Stripy Sock onto the line to look for its partner. When the Wind whooshes in, Stripy Sock goes flying over the fence, back through the window… and lands right next to the Tumble Dryer. Uh-oh.

Scene 4 – The Tumble Dryer

The grumpy Tumble Dryer is fed up of being blamed for every missing sock. But when Stripy Sock starts to cry, he softens and tells it where all the odd socks go: the Sock Drawer.

Scene 5 – The Sock Drawer

Inside the drawer is a gang of odd socks. None of them match, and that's the best bit! Stripy Sock realises you don't have to match to be friends, and everyone joins in a joyful finale.

Script Sample: The Opening Scene

Here's how the play begins, so you can get a feel for the length of the lines and the humour.

The stage is a giant laundry basket. The Clothes (Jumper, Vest and the two Pyjamas) are curled up asleep inside. Stripy Sock is curled up in the middle.
